free ultrasound procedures

LifeTalk Resource Center offers free and confidential limited ultrasounds to women who have had a positive pregnancy test result in our center.

When Should I Get an Ultrasound?

We recommend getting an ultrasound one to four weeks after you’ve taken a pregnancy test with positive results. A pregnancy test alone is not enough to verify your pregnancy. That is why it is important to get an ultrasound, so you can know for certain that you have a viable pregnancy.

What is an Ultrasound?

Ultrasounds are painless examinations that use a device to bounce sound waves off of a developing fetus and create an image on a monitor. Instructions concerning your ultrasound will be issued to you by a LifeTalk nurse.

Ultrasounds are performed to:

  • Confirm pregnancy
  • Detect fetal heartbeat
  • Determine fetal age
  • Determine due date
  • Determine the location of the pregnancy (intrauterine/ectopic)
